After 3 at BCD

After 3 at BCDYour child’s day does not end at 3:00 p.m. and neither does the educational experience at Boulder Country Day!

After 3 at BCD is an after school program that provides an opportunity for BCD students to engage in meaningful and exciting learning experiences after school in a safe and caring environment.

After 3 at BCD is composed of two parts:

  • an after school program that runs daily from 3:00-5:45 and
  • a variety of after school specialty Classes offered each trimester.

Students who participate in After 3 at BCD are supervised at all times. Our after school faculty members pick up students from their regular classroom setting and escort them to where they need to be. We take attendance and ensure that students are accounted for at all times.

BCD’s youngest students (Preschool – Kindergarten) who stay after school are signed into our after school program "home base" located in the preschool building activity room. We take attendance, sign students in, and serve a light snack. Students participate in variety of age appropriate activities. Examples of typical activities include arts and crafts, cooking projects, science experiments, books, puzzles, board games, and outdoor playtime.

Elementary school students in first through fifth grades who stay After 3 at BCD are escorted to the preschool building "home base" where we take attendance before the students head to BCD’s library to participate in a quiet study hall (a.k.a. homework club). Study Hall is offered daily during the first hour of our after school program (until about 4:15) and takes place in the school library where a BCD faculty member provides homework support. After study hall is over, students are escorted back to the preschool building where they participate in age appropriate activities in a mixed-age setting.

Middle school students also are invited to participate in study hall after school. The middle school study hall is located in the middle school building. Middle school students are not escorted to the study hall. However, after the study hall ends each day, students who have not been picked up are escorted to BCD’s after school program home base and signed in on our attendance sheets.

Parents may also register their child for after school specialty classes. Students enrolled in an after school specialty class are escorted by a BCD faculty member to their class and signed in with the instructor. Students who stay on campus after a specialty class ends are picked up from the class and escorted back to the after school program home base located in the preschool building. A catalogue of after school specialty classes is published each trimester. Parents may register and pay for these classes online. Please note that the fees associated with specialty classes are separate from and in addition to our after school program fees.

After 3 at BCD fees are in addition to tuition.
